Detroit Lakes, MN (WDAY TV) - The student population is growing, and Detroit Lakes Public Schools is out of space.
The school board is proposing a new elementary be built. It would fit 1,000 students, from kindergarten to first grade.
The superintendent says it may be on the ballot by spring. A quick turn-around, but he says it'll fix current and future space issues.
Supt. Doug Froke, Detroit Lakes Public School: “We build buildings to meet the programming needs, so right now we are in the mod of shifting kids, and we don't think that's a healthy thing to do."
A $45 million proposal has other projects tacked on, like solving traffic congestion near schools.
