Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Championship teams are built by great management or on the college level, great recruiting.

NDSU is hoping this newest batch of recruits will get them to a Summit League championship level. The most notable recruit to sign on the first day of the early signing period is Shanley standout AJ Jacobson. Jacobson led his Deacons to the Class A championship game last year, is 6'6 and averaged 23 points a game.

Jacobson verballed back in July. He's joined by Milwaukee native Carlin Dupree, a 6'3 guard that can play the point or shoot, but head coach Saul Phillips says Jacobson was a must.

Saul Phillips, NDSU Head Coach: “You can't know a kid better than what we know this kid and still we're extremely excited to have him. Great day for a program had he been a kid that lived in a different area of the country he might have gotten some more recruiting attention period; and we feel he can stack up against anyone we put him up against.”
