Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The Fargo Theatre needs your help to avoid shutting its doors. The theater is announcing a capital campaign to raise money for a digital conversion.

The theatre says it's more than half-way to its goal of raising $200,000. The National Association of Theater Owners say films will not be released on 35 millimeter as early as next spring. The deadline for converting to digital is next March.

As many as 800 small theaters across the nation will be forced to close because they can't make the conversion.

John Machacek - VP, Theatre Board of Directors: “This capital campaign is a very important step in that process of moving the theater forward. Film is the cornerstone of the Fargo Theater. We just need to do what we can to continue to be able to show films here.”
