Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- The celebration on the North side of Fargo may be going on for a while and no one there will mind a bit.
The North girls swim team made history over the weekend, becoming the first eastern school to win the state championship since 1977, when North won that one.
"It's really cool that our school supports on this much on what we did at state."
"It's great that your school is really supporting you. It helps a lot."
It's a championship celebration, 35 years in the making.
Ellie Roche/Fargo North Senior: "Just since there's such a long gap in between championships makes it just that much more special."
Talia Butery/North Head Coach: "It's awesome to be somebody who has grown up on this team and has watched this team for a long time and been a part of it as an athlete and a coach and a fan. It was really very special for me."
And even with the decorated season now behind them, these girls have created memories for a lifetime.
Roche: "We had a really great bond with all the girls and it was a really good team."
Maddy Derby/Fargo North Senior: "The end of the 400 free relay when I touched the wall. I just looked at the time and my other relay meets were jumping up and down and smiling and I knew that we did it."
Talia Butery: "The looks on the girls faces were pretty priceless. There was a lot of tears, a lot of laughing and a lot of hugs all around. It was very cool."
