Man is lucky to be alive after a fire nearly destroys his home

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- A North Fargo man is lucky to be alive after a fire nearly spread to his home.

His three-car garage was engulfed in flames by the time firefighters showed up at about five a-m. Now, it's in ashes.

The garage is a total loss, along with two cars, and everything else inside.

The fire just started to spread from the garage to the attic of the two-story home.

Ryan Erickson with the Fargo Fire Department says, "they had some winds, and with the heavy flames it was starting to extend to the house, so they made their initial tactic to prevent it from extending to the house."

Firefighters are investigating.
