Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- Just in time for Veterans Day, a national list has named Fargo the best place for Veterans to live in North Dakota.

A ranking released by the USAA and Military.com says Fargo is tops for post 9/11 veterans trying to transition from service to civilian life. The list highlights Fargo's job accessibility, educational opportunities, and affordable housing.

These services help steer vets away from depression and post traumatic stress disorder.

Lonnie Wangen, with the ND Commissioner for Veterans, says, "that makes me feel pretty good I think overall north dakota is a great place for veterans. Per capita we do actually have one of the highest per capita veterans of any state in the country so that says a lot right there."

The department of veterans affairs estimates about one million more people leaving the military in the next five years.
