Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) -- Moorhead police are investigating a man who they say has been tattooing underage girls out of his home.
A search warrant obtained by WDAY says several South Fargo High School students have already received them, some in inappropriate places.
Court documents say the man was tattooing girls as young as 14 inside of this Moorhead apartment building, a practice licensed artists say is not only illegal, but extremely dangerous.
Tim Lund/46 and 2 tattoo artist: "Go to a licensed shop, somewhere that's safe. You know there's less chance of getting an infection or hepatitis, which is really a huge danger about, when you're getting tattooed in somebody's house."
A search warrant says three girls have gone to the man for his work.
They told police he is known at their school for giving tattoos to many students, regardless of age, often at a cheap price.
The documents say some of these tattoos were on private parts of their bodies, that the man photographed after he was finished.
Tim Lund: "I think it's disgusting, that's about all I can say. It's not safe."
Police searched his apartment last month and confiscated his supplies, electronics, and a cell phone. Charges have not yet been filed.
In Minnesota, it's illegal to tattoo outside of a licensed shop. It's also illegal to provide tattoo services to minors.
