Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- It's a state holiday for plenty of people in North Dakota tomorrow starting at noon and one thing's for certain; there's going to be a lot less people out for tomorrow's deer opener.

North Dakota game and fish issued about 40 thousand less tags than 2011, because numbers are down and hunters not having much success last year.

Shawn Holmes with Gander Mountain says, "so the drive is definitely there this year for everybody to get out there because there is just less tags available. So that's a big thing that is driving business this year. People are doing trips this year that maybe they wouldn't have done in the past, possibly two or three weekends out of the season, maybe they only did one time last year."
