Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- The attorney for a Fargo surgeon accused of drugging and sexually assaulting his wife tried today to undermine expert testimony about the powerful sedative propofol.

On cross examination, Dr. Steven Shafer admitted patients can respond differently to the drug. Shafer was a key witness in the trial linked to the death of pop star Michael Jackson.

Dr. Jon Norberg allegedly gave his wife propofol multiple times in June 2011, then sexually assaulted her when she was unconscious.

Norberg is also on trial for reckless endangerment, for allegedly putting his wife's life at risk.
