West Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- West Fargo police are investigating an aggravated assault case that spans the country.

41-year-old Timothy Abrahamson, a Maricopa County, Arizona deputy sheriff, is behind bars. Police say he drove to West Fargo with another deputy, to assault Jason Swart.

It happened in September outside of Swart's home, 1095 Parkway Lane. Swart was beaten and part of his ear was cut off.

Authorities believed the attack stemmed from an affair.

Arland Rasmussen, West Fargo police chief, says, "Mr. Swart had met a female I think that was involved with Mr. Abrahamson um so it was probably a jealousy."

Immunity was given to another Maricopa County deputy who rode to West Fargo with Abrahamson.
