Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Many have called the campaign of 2012 the Social Media Election. So it's only fitting that the climax broke social media records.
On Election night twitter set a record for one event. 20 million tweets with the hashtag election.
President Obama's tweet of four more years announcing his victory was re-tweeted over half a million times setting a record.
And the same picture on Facebook has been liked more than 3.6 million times, also a record.
But many are using new social media with the older form as well.
Brianne Carlsrud, SunDog: “I'd have to say more people probably tuned in to election night as well as the debates as a result of seeing their friends talking about the election on social media.”
When the Presidential race was called, there were over 300,000 tweets per minute.
