Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) -- The Moorhead Spuds return to the state football tournament this weekend and they'll see a familiar face there in Bemidji.

The Spuds opened the season with a thrilling 34-30 win over the Lumberjacks

way back in August.

The two schools have developed a great rivalry, Moorhead and Bemidji have met in the last 8 months for the section hockey and basketball crowns.

Kevin Feeney, Moorhead head coach, says, "They expected to be in this game and our guys expected to be in this game. So, I think both teams

are going to come in with the standpoint that they can come in and knock each other off. They've played Bemidji in a lot of different sports whether it's hockey, baseball, basketball, they've had great wars in the past. A lot of these kids understand the type of athletes that we're going up against and the type of game that it's going to take for us to be successful."

Aaron Lien, Moorhead Sr. quarterback, says, "I feel like our team thinks we have a really good shot to win this one. Whereas, last year we were more just happy to be there, playing Wayzata. We feel like we have a lot better matchup against Bemidji."
