Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - It has been a marathon. The two candidates for North Dakota's U.S. Senate Race are preparing to cross the campaign finish line.

Now it is up to the voters. Heidi Heitkamp or Rick Berg.

One loud blast from the "bring it home" home brought out the party faithful in Mayville today. Heidi Heitkamp in the last hours of a grueling, tenacious campaign.

Heidi Heitkamp, (D) Senate Candidate: “When I am out and about, and we are doing the things North Dakotans do, person to person, we are going to win this big, you guys. It is absolutely big.”

Congressman Rick Berg covered the state from Fargo to Minot today, starting the day at Moore Engineering.

Cong. Rick Berg, (R) Senate Candidate: “This race has been fun for me. It has been fun because I am not changing who I am. For 26 years we fought the things my country is fighting.”

It really has. After months of campaigning, it came down to these final hours.

Berg: “People are fired up and looking forward to this momentum coming to a conclusion tomorrow.”

On board Heitkamp's bus today, the Senate hopeful talked about the uniqueness of campaigning in a state where you are bound to know someone in town, whether or not you are cut from the same party-cloth.

Heitkamp: “And they know I am a person who is a straight shooter who says what I mean.”

Two candidates, one night left to campaign, then the wait

Tonight, Senator Kent Conrad is joining Heitkamp and other North Dakota NPL candidates at the Teamsters in Fargo. Berg is at a Volunteer Thank You tonight in Fargo.
