Defunct North Dakota oilseed plant being sold at auction

NORTHWOOD, N.D. (AP) — A defunct oilseed processing plant in the eastern North Dakota town of Northwood is being sold at auction.

NORTHWOOD, N.D. (AP) — A defunct oilseed processing plant in the eastern North Dakota town of Northwood is being sold at auction.

Agweek reports that the sheriff's foreclosure sale of the former Northwood Mills is set for Nov. 27.

An official with auction company Maas Companies says the facility has drawn strong interest from potential buyers domestically and internationally. City Auditor and Administrator Jeremiah Black says officials hope the plant will reopen.

The plant cost about $10 million to build and employed about two dozen people. It opened in 2007 and closed two years later due in part to weak demand for canola oil, and a bank foreclosed.
