Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- Drivers and business owners can agree, happy road construction season is wrapping up. In the metro the project that clogged up the most action was on main Avenue, but the cones are now gone.

An orange-free Main Avenue means businesses along that road can breathe again. Stacey McMahan is the General Manager at "The Work Zone."

McMahan: "the theme of the bar being the Work Zone, I think we did take our theme to the extreme this year by being with all the construction going on!"

As crews rebuilt the roadway and frontage roads, front entrances to many businesses were blocked, and delays were common.

McMahan says it wasn't great for business, but they pushed through.

McMahan: "It's obviously gonna deter business, because with the construction up people take different routes."

Down the road, a new business opened in the midst of the construction mess.

"Blush" salon opened in June.

Stylist Jaime McDonald says despite the construction, business was good this summer.

McDonald: "Everyone who wants to get their hair done will get their hair done, no matter what. But having to leave, and come, and telling clients where to go just kind of was a hassle."

Now that there's nearly no trace of the construction that had taken over this road, traffic is starting to pick up, and businesses hope their customer count does the same.

McMahan says he has already noticed an uptick in the past few days, and the road looks better than ever.

Other projects now done are the 7th Avenue North overpass at I-94, and work at 4th Avenue North near University.
