VALLEY CITY, N.D. (AP) — Ground breaking for a new $31 million National Guard facility in Valley City is scheduled for the spring of 2015.

Col. Steve Tabor tells NewsDakota that the facility will be nine times larger than the current structure. The facility will be located along Interstate 94.

Tabor says construction on a ready response center is tentatively scheduled to start in 2020 or 2021.

The majority of the project is federally funded, though a portion of the 1 percent Valley City sales tax will go toward funding the project.
