Perham, MN (WDAY TV) - Students in Perham, Minnesota are getting ready to get in the bike business.

Working with local businesses, students in Ag Sciences are about to design and build a motorcycle - from scratch.

This comes after the students built and competed with a special gas powered car last year.

They say this kind of class project allows them to get exposed to science, technology, engineering and math.

That, along with team work and problem solving, has the students excited to start building the motorcycle.

Kalub Stone, Student: β€œI think it is going to be wonderful, fun come together as a team and build it from the ground up like the go cart.”

Chris Hutmacher, Student: β€œIt makes it a good heads up so you don't waste time and money in college not knowing what you want to do. Learn how to do it and say yes, this is what I want to do.”

The students hope to have the motorcycle done in early spring to take part in state and regional competition.
