New York feels the wrath of Superstorm Sandy

New York, NY (WDAY TV) - New Yorkers "are going to need patience and tolerance" as the transit system gets up and running again after Superstorm Sandy.

New York, NY (WDAY TV) - New Yorkers "are going to need patience and tolerance" as the transit system gets up and running again after Superstorm Sandy.

Parts of the New York City subway will begin running again tomorrow.

Crews have pumped the water from three of seven flooded subway tunnels. It’s one small step in getting back to normal.

Sandy is now blamed for 63 deaths including a college student out taking pictures ---electrocuted by a downed power line in Queens.

On Staten Island, an off-duty policeman drowned after moving his family to safety.

At Manhattan's Bellevue Hospital, the National Guard was brought in to help move 500 patients after more power problems.

In New Jersey, natural gas fires burn in the exclusive shore community of Mantoloking where homes have collapsed.

Some have been tossed off their foundation. And entire neighborhoods are gone.

President Obama toured the devastation with Governor Chris Christie.
