West Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- West Fargo high school students got a chance to see the North Dakota Supreme Court in action.

The 5 justices were at the school to hear arguments in an appeal of the attempted murder conviction of Vincente Chacano. He was found guilty of attempting to shoot a prosecutor and jurors in a Hettinger County courtroom.

His lawyer argued that a tape of the incident was biased evidence and that the prosecutor should not have called his client a liar in closing remarks.

Students were interested in the give and take of the proceedings.

West Fargo student, Adel Said, says, "the justices interrupted the sperches going, they needed to get everything straight and they didn't allow them to complete you know. I thought it was important to get all the factd straight, 100% of the time."

The court will also hold a session at the UND law school tomorrow.
