Kindred, ND (WDAY TV) -- A remarkable piece of our past has new life, thanks to some area boy scouts.
Just outside Kindred, Fargo's Troop 214 has established a new hiking trail that connects with the North Country National Scenic Trail, which stretches across 7-states.
Today, Troop 214 scouts prepared to build a kiosk to greet hikers who come to their new trail, here on NDSU's Ekre Grassland Preserve, just south-west of Kindred. A loop that connects with an amazing piece of North Dakota's past.
Tom Moberg/North County Trail Assoc.: "The boy scout trail will connect with one of America's great national scenic trails, in our own back-yard. stretching from North Dakota, through lakes country and then east to New York."
Jacob Goroski/Boy Scout Troop-214: "The boy scout's trail crosses some of our state and country's amazing time. When fur traders and early military scouts and leaders walked these paths when America was just growing up."
The special ceremony to open the new boy scout trail will begin at one o'clock Sunday near the Ekre Preserve on Highway 18 south-west of Kindred.
