Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- Here in Fargo, we've seen winds around 40 miles per hour today.

Drivers say trips in windy conditions are some of the worst, as it's very hard to control their semis. On highways, especially coming out of overpasses and underpasses, it's quite common to get hit by a huge gust.

Most are thankful that the winds here aren't as strong as those out in Western North Dakota or South Dakota, but say they fear the drive ahead.

Randy Moore, a truck driver, says, "it's miserable, it's miserable. If you don't have the weight in the box, they you got to slow down and pay attention."

Another truck driver, Ron Dauby, says, "When you get a push you've got to counteract that, but with the heavy load that I've got it's not too much of a problem. Now an empty, it can push you around quite a bit."

Drivers say the best thing if conditions get too bad, is don't be afraid to pull over.
