Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) -- Moorhead has completed multi-million dollar flood control and protection projects, and another one is underway, near the river.
Crews have been busy the last several weeks, replacing the old pump and building a new pumping station. FEMA is helping pay for the 3-million dollar project, which started in June.
The old pumping station was from the 50's. And it was located too close to the river and had to be sandbagged and protected during the 2009 flood.
Kris Knutson with the Moorhead Public Service says, "one of many project to update infrastructure it is a 1959 pumping station the equipment is not repaired easily so it was time to replace it."
The project should be wrapped up next spring.
