NDSU researchers receive a $5-million grant

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- NDSU researchers are taking aim at cancer, arthritis, asthma and hypertension, with an almost 5-million dollar grant.

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- NDSU researchers are taking aim at cancer, arthritis, asthma and hypertension, with an almost 5-million dollar grant.

The grant comes from the National Institue of Health, to be used for research. The major focus of NDSU's Center for Biomedical Research is cancer.

Researchers are focusing on breast cancer, preventing prostate cancer, the effect of nutrition and diet on cancer, and compounds, that is showing promise treating certain cancers.

NDSU President, Dean Bresciani, says, "That's important, because we can serve the people of North Dakota and the people of our country, in a way no other North Dakota university has been able to before."

NDSU has recieved a total of 24-million dollars in grants from the National Institue of Health, over the past 12-years.
