Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) -- If you felt like you were being watched when you were driving around Moorhead and Dilworth today, you were right.

Crews from Metro Cog and the Minnesota Department of Transportation were out doing some car counting during peak traffic times in the cities.

They are trying to find out who is using those roads. How congested they get and how many cars are just passing through.

The information will be used to decide whether to re-route trunk highway 75.

Peggy Harter, senior transportation planner, says, "trunk highways are typically a type of corridor for mobility. For getting thru-vehicles through, and as it goes through the downtown and you look at the amount of access along trunk highway 75 in the downtown area, it's harder to get that mobility of traffic through."

The survey was meant to monitor how many people would actually use a re-routed Highway 75.
