FARGO – Firefighters rescued a cat from a fire that damaged a house this morning at 406 24th St. S.
Fargo Fire Marshal Norm Scott said the homeowner had just arrived home when she found smoke in the house. She called 911 at 8:57 a.m. and was able to get her two dogs out of the house but couldn’t get the cat out, he said.
Firefighters knocked the fire down in about 10 minutes and rescued the cat, delivering it to the woman's arms as she stood on the sidewalk wrapped in a blanket.
Scott said it appeared the fire may have started around the couch in the living room area of the one-story house. It was too early to speculate on the cause of the fire, he said.
“The house is pretty well smoke damaged, and they won’t be able to stay there tonight,” he said.
