Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Nearly half a century after he served in the military, a North Dakota man is honored for his dedication to our country.

Senator John Hoeven presented three awards to Airman First Class Larry Wayman.

Wayman was in the Air Force in the 1960s and was part of a small group of highly skilled aircraft electricians.

He was part of many highly classified missions overseas, which was why it took so long to get his medals.

It wasn't easy to get information.

Larry Wayman, Air Force Veteran: "The outfit I worked for was with the NSA, and the 694th Intelligence Office, everything is classified."

Wayman was awarded a National Defense Service Medal, an Air Force Good Conduct Medal, and an Air Force Marksmanship Ribbon.
