Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- If you've been to a Fargo North volleyball match over the last two seasons, you've probably seen Taylor Preston, or as you may know her, the girl with the helmet. Well, there's a reason she wears that helmet, and tonight we find out why.

Fargo North senior Taylor Preston is no stranger to pain, it comes with being the team's defensive specialist.

You get a lot of bruises especially on your elbows, your hips, and your knees.

Her passion for the position, has also led to her being the most recognizable player on the court on any given night.

"At first, everyone was like woah that chick is wearing something on her head."

"I thought it looked good because it fit her personality."

Last year, Preston suffered two concussions in the span of a few months.

While Preston can joke about her new fashion statement, she knows first hand how serious concussions can be.

Taylor's mom, Stacy, tells me she's learned a lot about concussions recently, but she's happy it hasn't taken away one of her daughter's biggest passions.

Volleyball is her sport and if she couldn't play, we'd have one unhappy gal.

North is currently in 3rd place in the EDC.
