Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- A Fargo man is behind bars after police say he took a joy ride on the Fargo Country Club golf course, and ended up crashing his pickup in a pond.

20 year old Timothy Celander faces multiple charges, including driving under the influence and giving false information to law enforcement.

Police say Celander ran from the scene. Firefighters had to dive into the pond and make sure no one was inside the truck.

This happened just after midnight. When police found Celander, he gave them a fake name, and said he was with 3 other people.

Asst. Chief Leroy Skarloken with the Fargo Fire Department says, "we still didn't have any information of if there was anybody in it, there was nobody on scene, so Valley Dive Rescue was called and they used their sonar unit to search the rest of the pond."

Police say there did not appear to be anyone else in or around the pond.

Celander was also cited for possession of a false ID, failure to report an accident, and minor in consumption. He could also face charges for damage to the golf course.
