Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- North Dakota may be a top energy producing state, but a new study shows its one of the worst in promoting energy efficiency.

It comes from the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy. North Dakota is ranked 49th, only ahead of Mississippi. Minnesota comes in at 9th.

The study evaluates states on a range of energy conservation policies. The states near the top embrace energy-efficiency targets and offer incentives to reach them.
