Minnesota (WDAY TV) -- It doesn't have the craze of Will and Kate behind it, but Governor Mark Dayton is hosting royalty today.

A reception was held for King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden. It's part of the couple's 3-day trip to Minnesota.

Thursday they toured a new cultural center at the American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis. Friday in St. Peter marked the 150th anniversary of the founding of Gustavus Adolphus College by Swedish immigrants.

The Governor is proclaiming today "American Swedish Institute Day," to recognize the heritage and bonds shared by Minnesota and Sweden.
