Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) -- Some major recognition for Grand Forks Herald food critic Marilyn Hagerty.
She has been presented the 2012 Al Neuharth Award for Excellence in the Media. Neuharth, the founder of USA Today, presented the award to his former classmate.
They attended the University of South Dakota six decades ago. Hagerty became an Internet sensation earlier this year when her review of Olive Garden went viral.
Hagerty says, "if you hang in there long enough things will work out. at the age of 86 if i'm going to be discovered they better discover me now."
Past recipients of the journalism award include Katie Couric, Walter Cronkite, Larry King and Tim Russert.
