Williston, ND (WDAY TV) - New information about that earthquake last week in North Dakota oil country.

A geologist says the 3.3 magnitude quake near Williston is "not" connected to hydraulic fracturing, or fracking.

Fracking is the pumping of water, sand and chemicals underground to break up shale rock to retrieve oil.

He says the quake was consistent with historical seismic activity in the region.

It was strong enough to be felt, but not cause damage.
