West Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - A major road in West Fargo is one step closer to a major makeover, giving drivers a better chance at an easy commute.
The City Commission approved a bid to expand Veterans Boulevard between 32nd and 40th Avenues.
Dakota Underground will do the project.
The cost is about $5.5 million and it'll be split between Fargo and West Fargo.
The city says this stretch of asphalt was originally built as a rural road, and it's no longer adequate.
Jim Brownlee, West Fargo City Administrator: "That whole corridor with Costco opening and Sanford coming up and all the schools there, it's just going to have a lot more traffic than it ever did; plus, all the new housing developments, both sides of the road.”
The new, six-lane roadway will be ready by next fall.
