Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- A new opportunity for education in the arts came alive today.

Guests got their first look at the Katherine Kilbourne Burgum Center for Creativity. The center opened at the Plains Art Museum, and classes begin next week.

It's a collaboration between the museum and the Fargo School District. Students will take art classes in the center, which is filled with classrooms and exhibits.

Collleen Sheehy, Plains Art Museum CEO, says, "there really is no other model like this in the country where an art museum has collaborated with a whole school district to create a learning space. And education is at the core of the center."

The center is named for Katherine Kilbourne-Burgum, who was an avid arts and education advocate.
