Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) -- People in Grand Forks say they're hoping for a revolution. There's a new website where anyone can openly share opinions about the community, with hopes of reaching community leaders.
The site just launched his week and it already has nearly 1,000 posts.
After you take the 90 seconds to register for Engage the Forks.com, you're a part of what creators are hoping is a revolution, an interactive platform that allows you to have real-time conversations with city leaders and share opinions on what they like, would like to change, and big ideas for the community.
Barry: "This is part of a 2 phase community visioning process, phase 1
a number of focus groups we had over the winter where we had 400
people engaged in that part of the process and now we've put this
website out there so anyone in the community can weigh in."
Creators knew it would be a hit, but had no idea how quickly
it would take off. In less than a week, the site has blown up with
ideas, and the discussion has spread to Facebook and Twitter
Kristi: "It's been 3 or 4 days and we see 800 some interactions
happening so far, so we're just going to keep pushing and pushing
until we get the message out."
Barry:" There's some really cool ideas like in the town square downtown
put ice down in the winter and kind of make it like new york city
downtown where you can kind of skate around."
And these ideas are taken seriously. City officials are creating an action plan w results after they're released in November
Kristi: we have groups ready to respond and take action with the
projects and the vision that they recognize happening
