BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A North Dakota man accused of killing his mother and stealing her car plans to plead guilty.
Dean Grenstiner had been scheduled to stand trial beginning Nov. 27 on charges of murder and theft of property.
The Bismarck Tribune reports that the trial has been canceled and a change of plea hearing is scheduled for Nov. 13.
Grenstiner is charged with beating his mother to death in her home last March. Authorities say Grenstiner was living with his mother, Ann Grenstiner, for several weeks before she was killed.
A preliminary autopsy report said the cause of death was multiple blows to the head. Grenstiner was arrested in Moorhead, Minn., the day after his mother's body was discovered.
Grenstiner is being held without bond at the Burleigh County Detention Center.
