Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- Tonight we're getting our first look at what those new cameras in downtown Fargo are shooting.

We found out the quality and technology behind it is extremely impressive.

There are 3 cameras and 2 of them can rotate. Police targeted "trouble spots," the rotating cameras automatically zoom and follow movement after motion is triggered at those "trouble spots."

The cameras are on NP and Broadway, business owners in that section recently complained about a spike in crime.

Lt. Jeff Skuza with the Fargo Police says, "the first 4 weeks after we started talking about the cameras, the publicity of criminal theft problem, and the fact cameras are going in we took zero graffiti reports for 4 weeks."

To people who oppose the cameras, Lt. Skuza says this is the same as posting an officer on the corner 24-7. This is just an affordable option.
