(WDAY TV) -- One of the best stories of this high school football season is at Northern Cass.

For the past several years, the Jaguars have been near the bottom of the Class A standings, but this season, Northern Cass has re-emerged as a contender in Class A. They're off to a 4-and-1 start, they're best in years. The Jaguars are also ranked 5th in the state; coming off a 3-and-6 season in 2011.

Dale Nordick, Northern Cass head coach, says, "one of the things we felt last year was we weren't in very good shape and we weren't very strong. So this summer we developed a bit of a workout program. We had 25-30 showing up and 6:30 in the morning 3 days a week. They're seeing the rewards is what's happened."

Maverick Symington, Northern Cass Senior, says, "I'ts incredible, beyond relief really. You work so hard in the offseason hoping you can get some wins and get to the playoffs. Now that we've made it, we're pretty stoked and now wanna get that home field advantage."

The 5th ranked Jags travel to 4th ranked Maple Valley-Enderlin tomorrow.
