Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- The president of the North Dakota Stockmen's Association says beef prices should stay about the same through the winter, despite the current drought.

The Association, North Dakota's largest rancher group, is holding its annual convention in Fargo this week. A drought this summer has raised corn prices, and much cattle feed is made of corn.

But NDSA president Jason Schmidt says that will have little affect in the upcoming winter season.

Schmidt says, "we don't know if it'll be such a short-term impact. We've gone up in prices in the last year and we're kind of at a plateau right now. Down the road, if it's a sustained drought, it can affect us over time."

At ten, hear how advances in agricultural practices keep the drought from directly affecting prices.
