Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- As the starting left cornerback on the defending champion Bison football team, Andre Martin has plenty on his plate trying to prepare for this week's game.

Now add on the fact that this Saturday he's facing the school he used

to play for, and if that's not enough, Martin's wife is expecting their first child tomorrow.

Martin: "It's a blessing to be in this situation to have a wife that can have a child and more so a blessing to compete and get on the field

and have fun with the players."

Andre Martin considers himself a very lucky guy, by this time tomorrow he'll be a father, his wife, Nadia will be induced tomorrow morning, but

trying to cram school, football and becoming a parent into one day has created some sleepless nights.

Martin: "This past month, haven't got a lot of sleep, hard for my wife to breathe, the different stuff pregnant woman go thru, back hurting, waking

up, make sure she's ok, I've been getting enough sleep I'm used to it now."

With all that swirling off the field, Martin returns to the place where he shined for three years, UNI. Martin transferred to NDSU this summer because he wanted to continue his education with a grad program here. He joins another former Panther, Bison defensive coordinator Chris Klieman, who experienced this last year.

Klieman: "It'll be a tough situation for Andre originally, he's a competitor, and he's excited for this week, he's got his hands full with his wife having a baby, his priorities are straight, couldn't be more proud of him."

Martin: "I pray a lot, whatever situation I'm in, I just talk to Jesus he's been helping me out, this whole path, whole road, god never put more than you can bare."

The Martins are expecting a baby girl tomorrow, Andre is studying

in the gerentology program at NDSU, and will start Saturday night in Cedar Falls.
