Minnesota (WDAY TV) -- A new poll shows the Minnesota constitutional amendment vote to ban same-sex marriage, may be closer than people thought.
It shows Minnesotans are about evenly divided. 49-percent supported the proposed amendment, 47-percent opposed it and 4-percent said they were undecided. The Star-Tribune poll surveyed 800 likely voters.
Minnesota law already forbids same-sex marriage, but some want the amendment to keep judges or legislators from changing the law later and legalizing it.
One note if a voter skips the question it is counted as a vote against the amendment.
