(WDAY TV) -- The last time Concordia beat St. John's in Moorhead, I wasn't even a year-old. That's how long the streak has been, dating all the way back to 1986.

Including last year's heartbreaking 28-21 loss in overtime. But things were different this year.

For the first time in 25 years, Concordia beats St. John's at the Jake, 31-21 the final, behind a great performance from the defense.

Terry Horan, Cobbers head coach, says, "they say the monkey's now off our back, well it was an orangutan that was on our back! I just feel so good for these kids."

Peter Hvidston says, "It's also big for the Concordia alumni guys that hadn't beaten 'em here since 1986 so it feels really good."

Tom Knowlton says, "The hugest sigh of relief, I was close to tears there at the end I was so happy. Huge for us to get to 4-0 and to do it beating the Johnnies is extra special I guess."

John Bye says, "I think maybe it is a little surprising, but now we're starting to believe and so that...big things are up next."
