Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- The world's largest truck convoy lined a stretch of the interstate in West Fargo this morning.

About fifty drivers from across the country joined forces with law enforcement to support the Special Olympics. Athletes hopped in for a ride as the truckers took off from the Red River Valley Fairgrounds.

Drivers say being at the front of the convoy is a coveted honor.

Kathy Meagher, ND Special Olympics CEO, says, "what kicks off this event is the auctioning of the Lead Dog, which is the truck that leads the entire convoy. And our goal for this event certainly was to have 40 trucks, which is an increase from last year."

Kilo Trucking bought the top spot for 17 hundred dollars.
