Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- The much anticipated day is finally here. No, not Christmas. But it might as well be for iPhone lovers. The iPhone 5 launched at 8 this morning.

Many of them standing in line before the sun even had a chance to peak over the Horizon. Just before 5:00 a.m. is when the first people got here.

Melissa Gartner: "I just needed a new phone and something different."

Some will be new to the Apple world, others are taking this time to upgrade from a previous iPhone.

Erick Diederick: "I've got a MacBook and an iPad and using the iCloud they talk really well. Apple is the only product that just works."

And once 8 a.m. hit, it was a little bit of organized chaos. Everyone knew what they wanted, now just time to activate and pay.

Not only is it the sleeker body with the larger screen, but in today's day and age, it's all about speed. And the iPhone 5 is the first with 4-G capability.

Diederick: "It's mandatory almost, all the Apps are running high performance, so having that faster internet wherever you go is very important."

Apple has sold more than 240-million iPhones since it hit the market five years ago. But does the 6th generation live up to the hype?

Matt Jacques: "It's super fast and smooth. Transitions are awesome."

And if you're not on board yet, those smooth transitions could be yours for just $199.
