BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Longtime Burleigh County Clerk of Court Deb Simenson during her career has sent jury duty summons to her husband and two sons. Now, she can add her own name to that list.

Simenson uses a computer program to randomly select names from lists of voters and people with driver's licenses. The program prints out summonses, and a machine puts them into an envelope.

Simenson tells The Bismarck Tribune that she got one of the envelopes in her personal mail on Aug. 25.

The clerk's office also keeps files for court cases. Simenson says she went out of her way to not look at files in the case for which she had called herself. She ended up not having to serve anyway — the case was settled without a trial.
