DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) — Theodore Roosevelt's 1912 run for the presidency is a focus of discussion at Dickinson State University this week.

The Theodore Roosevelt Center at DSU is holding its seventh annual Theodore Roosevelt Symposium Thursday through Saturday. Scholars, students, history buffs and others are exploring Roosevelt's unsuccessful 1912 run, 100 years after he founded the Progressive Party to challenge the Democrats and Republicans.

Roosevelt Center project manager Sharon Kilzer says it isn't just an academic conference — she says it's for anyone who is interested. It also is to include evening entertainment and a guided trip to the Badlands, where Roosevelt hunted and ranched.
