Fergus Falls, MN (WDAY TV) -- Now don't get me wrong, the Fargo Marathon is a challenge.

But, what people were doing in Fergus Falls today was a whole different kind of a feat.

Around 700 people took on the extreme wilderness course for the 5K mud run. They were climbing hay bails, fighting through mud. There were different divisions and teams for the event, but the result was all the same. These people got muddy.

Bjorn Ringdahl, event director, says, " It's fantastic! The participation is great the numbers are fantastic and everyone is having a really good time. They're really muddy and everyone has a smile on their face and everyone is having a really good time."

Heidi Guggenberger of Fargo says, "The initial thought of just seeing the big mud pile was like, oh my gosh. We actually have to go through this. But, once we got through it, it was a piece of cake."

We'll have plenty more on this story tomorrow. Our own Eric Manlove was out on the course today, and has a great story coming our way tomorrow night

He gets a little dirty, too.
