FARGO – The downtown Radisson Hotel here was evacuated this afternoon after a bomb threat was called in to hotel staff.

Fargo police Lt. Joel Vettel said Radisson staff made the decision to evacuate after receiving the phone call.

After police officers performed a cursory search of the hotel, Vettel said it was determined that there was no validity to the threats made in the phone call.

“We are treating it as a nonviable threat,” Vettel said.

Mark Lykke from Spencer, Iowa, was staying at the hotel with his family and said that they got the call from staff to evacuate around 5:45 p.m.

“They called the rooms one at a time,” Lykee said. “They said ‘You can take the elevator, but you have to evacuate.’ ”

As of 7 p.m. Saturday, guests were still not being allowed back into the hotel.

This is the week’s fourth bomb threat in the Red River Valley Region, following threats to the Fargo Hector International Airport on Tuesday, the Grand Forks International Airport on Wednesday and North Dakota State University on Friday.
