WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) — The city of Williston is adding more employees to keep pace with the region's oil boom.
The Williston Herald reports that commissioners approved staffing for 180 city positions. That's an increase of about 40 positions.
Finance Commissioner Brad Bekkedahl and Mayor Ward Koeser say the level of services cannot be maintained with the number of people currently in each department.
Commissioners also approved a 10 percent salary increase for staff. Commissioners also approved the first reading for an ordinance that would give themselves a raise.
Commissioner salaries would jump from $660 per month to $720.
