Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) - Apple has announced the low-down on the anticipated iPhone 5, to come out September 21st. Many people are not pre-ordering the expensive cell along with the rest of the world. They are tied to another contract.

People say it's like waking up Christmas morning, but not being able to open your presents.

Jordan Riley – Wants iPhone 5: "I actually just got the 4, but with the two year contract, I can't."

Everybody seems to be tied-down to a contract.

Brittany Johnson – Droid Customer: "Probably not; my contract isn't up with my old phone anyways."

Camille Hoppe – Wants iPhone 5: "If my contract--it ends in like a year--so in a year I will.

And getting a new one is just...

Camille Hoppe: "Too expensive."

But everyone agrees the new features and design are impressive.

Jordan Riley: "It's new and fresh and innovative."

Camille Hoppe: "I was surprised; I guess I didn't believe at all the things that were on there."

The phone is 18% thinner, and 20% lighter than any other Apple phone, and with LTE, Apple says you can surf the web faster than your at-home Wi-Fi network.

Chris Larsen: "It's pretty cool, all the stuff that phones can do nowadays."

Although the lines will probably be out the door, and wrapped around Verizon and AT&T buildings on opening day, some folks will have to just be patient until their contract is up.

Jordan Riley: "Yup, I'm going to wait another two years."

People can start pre-ordering the iPhone 5 today. It comes in black and white.
